Website privacy policy
Data controller
Tek Arena, whose contact details appear above, is the controller responsible for personal data processing carried out for the website.
This policy covers visits to the website and communications sent to Tek Arena about it. Where a request concerns a Footpal account or its deletion, the processing of account data is also described in the app’s privacy policy.
Messages and requests
When you contact us, we process your email address, any contact details you choose to provide, the content of your message and any attachments so that we can respond and follow up.
This processing is based on our legitimate interest in responding to requests. Where a request concerns the performance of a contract or a legal obligation, the necessary processing is based on that performance or obligation, respectively.
Only information needed to understand and handle your request is required. Without a way to reply or the essential details, we may be unable to handle it. Please do not send passwords or sensitive information unless necessary.
Contacting us does not subscribe you to marketing communications.
Operation and security
Visiting the website requires the processing of technical data, including IP addresses, request information and data needed to display pages. Technical logs may be used to diagnose incidents and protect the website against abuse.
This processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the website’s operation, availability and security. It is separate from the audience measurement described below.
Audience measurement with PostHog
We use PostHog, in its European hosting region, to measure page views, section visibility and use of the website’s buttons.
The information used is limited to the event, the page and its language, the relevant section or button, and broad browser, operating system and device categories. Page addresses exclude query parameters and fragments; referral information is limited to the referring website’s domain. Campaign parameters and advertising identifiers are excluded.
Each event receives a separate random identifier. No shared visitor, session or page-view identifier is retained to link events together. No identifier is calculated from an IP address or device characteristics. IP addresses are discarded from the events stored in PostHog.
This measurement uses neither analytics cookies nor identifiers retained in browser storage. It is not used to recognise a person across pages, visits or days. We do not enable session recording.
The results are used to produce aggregate statistics, such as page-view or button-click counts. They are not combined with Footpal accounts, support messages or app data, or used for advertising targeting.
To the extent that personal data is processed during technical collection and the production of statistics, this processing is based on our legitimate interest in understanding website traffic and improving the website. Statistics that are effectively anonymous do not allow rights to be exercised at an individual level.
Recipients and service providers
Information is accessible only to authorised people at Tek Arena and the providers involved in delivering the relevant services:
- Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, at the address given under Hosting, for website hosting and technical operation.
- PostHog, Inc., 2261 Market Street, #4008, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States, for audience measurement, with the project’s data stored in the European region.
- Email providers and, where applicable, request-management providers, to deliver and handle communications.
Providers acting as processors operate under data protection agreements and for the purposes of the tasks entrusted to them. Information may also be disclosed to competent authorities where required by law.
International transfers
Choosing European hosting does not rule out all access from countries outside the European Economic Area, particularly for providers’ support operations.
Where personal data is transferred, the transfer must be covered by an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with supplementary measures where necessary. PostHog’s data processing agreement provides for such clauses.
You can request information about the safeguards applicable to your data, and a copy under the conditions set out in the GDPR, by writing to tekarena [at] tekarena.io.
Retention
- Audience measurement: events and statistics stored in PostHog are deleted no later than 12 months after collection.
- Messages and requests: data is retained while the request is handled and for the follow-up needed to resolve it, then deleted once that follow-up is complete, unless further retention is justified as described below.
- Technical logs: retention is limited to the time needed to detect, analyse and resolve the relevant incidents; data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
- Legal obligations and disputes: only necessary records may be retained separately, with restricted access, for the duration of the applicable legal obligation or until the relevant limitation period expires and, if proceedings take place, until their final conclusion.
Your rights
Depending on the processing concerned and the conditions set out in the GDPR, you can request access to your data, its correction or deletion, or restriction of processing. You may object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests.
The right to data portability applies where processing is automated and based on your consent or a contract. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
To exercise your rights, write to tekarena [at] tekarena.io or to Tek Arena’s postal address above. If necessary, we will request only the information needed to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; this period may be extended by two months where the GDPR permits, in which case we will inform you.
We do not collect additional information solely to identify you within anonymous statistics.
You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
